ClickaPost.com goes public beta! Check it out!

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008 |

clickapostLogoWhite A couple of months ago I invited a bunch of people for an internal beta test of a new project I created for my clients called ClickaPost. Today I am proud to invite many more of you to our first Public Beta. Don’t let the “beta” in the name confuse you. The site is very much ready for public, beta only means a lot more cool things are coming very soon!

What is ClickaPost anyway?

It is an on-line classifieds system, similar to Craig’s List and in some ways to eBay, but with a twist. It is really pretty, free to use, and you may include both pictures and videos with your posts. People can leave comments about your post and if they wish to talk a bit more about it - we provide an integrated Forum for this! All forum posts can be easily linked to “ClickaPosts” so everyone always knows what you’re talking about.

While you can upload your own videos directly, if you already have them somewhere else on the Internet (say YouTube, Blip.TV, WellcomeMat, MetaCafe, etc.) you can easily embed them into your posts.

What can you post?

Pretty much anything! We separated over 400 different subcategories into the following 9 categories: For Sale, Vehicles, Services, Community Events, Real Estate, Personals, Jobs, Resumes and Wanted.

If you are selling a laptop or looking for one, getting rid of some old books, looking for a babysitter, organizing a community event, or simply looking for a job - ClickaPost.com is a place for you.

What now?

Head over to ClickaPost.com and register. If you already registered while we were in private beta - your account is still there so you may simply log in!

If you like what you see please tell your friends and family.

If you need help - just reply to this post and I’ll help you out with anything.

If you have any feedback - we’re all ears. Especially now ;)

Note on web browser compatibility…

While in beta, ClickaPost is best viewed using either FireFox or Internet Explorer 7. Support for Internet Explorer 6 is coming very soon! If you do not have FireFox installed, you can get it for free. FireFox 3 has just launched today and it is by far the best and fastest web browser ever made!
You may download it at the following address:

ClickaPost.com is a project I developed for my clients from New York.

More than a Blog? The Expression Engine…

Sunday, January 6th, 2008 |

ee_logo2 There comes a time when you need more than just a blog… While WordPress can provide you with the pages so it can behave just like a regular website and a blog, it might not be enough.

There will come time when you need something bigger: a blog, a wiki, user management, an e-commerce solution, a web forum, or a mailing list? How about all of them? What do you do then?

I’ve never personally used the product for a prolonged period of time, but I’ve seen a bunch of web sites on the net powered by it and by now - I am impressed. The solution is called The Expression Engine!

el_logo It’s a modular solution provided by EllisLab and it’s a very nice and feature rich Content Management System (CMS). It’s modular design makes it quite expandable and pocket friendly since you can purchase the core system and then the add-on modules when and if you need them. Adding a web forum is a snap, and so it is adding your very own Wiki, Mailing Lists, Photo Gallery, or RSS feed. Best of all, the basic core is FREE for non-commercial use which I welcome!

If you’re in a need for something more than just a blogging platform check out the Expression Engine.

I found out about it from a Blog I read from time to time: GearLive.com. They are powered by the Expression Engine and I must admit - the site looks really slick. It’s fast, and it makes a great use of most of their modules ;)

Here are couple of more sites being powered by the EE: gocm.org, idea-esolutions.com, ymz.cmcmusic.ca.

P.S. This is not an advertisement - just my personal opinion after having played with it for couple of hours as well as from the information I found on-line and the impressions GearLive site left on me.
