The first thing that got me laughing this morning was Google. The little ads I have left and right are displayed based on content of the posts, the whole site, etc., but Google’s AI Robot is really funny at times.
When I was testing the ads, my first post on the site was "Let’s test this baby". Google got the note of this quite literally and started displaying ads like "Is your girlfriend cheating on you?", and such
This morning I stop by the site, and I see "At-Home Teeth Whitening", and "Want whiter teeth" ads. At first I was wondering why in the world would my site, which has mostly tech news and how-to’s, display teeth whitening ads?
It turns out it’s because of how I titled one of the columns earlier "Dirty, Stained MacBook? Brush it’s teeth with toothpaste!"
This early in the morning, this is simply hilarious
Oh, and in the other news, since couple of articles ago, whenever I link to something in the post - a click will take you directly to that link without opening a new page. I myself do not like things opening up all over the place, so if you wish to visit a link but still stay on this site: Click the link while holding CTRL button on PC, or Command button on Mac. This will open up a post in a new Tab, or you can use SHIFT + Click - for opening links in a new page.
You’ve probably heard that Microsoft offered $46 billion for buying Yahoo!. I bet people at Yahoo! are thinking about this quite seriously, even though it most likely won’t happen. While US might not do anything to stop it, European Union is all over this.
Why Microsoft wants Yahoo? Simply because, even with tens of thousands of employees they have, no one can create a good search engine. Their Live Search is struggling! Yahoo on the other side - can find stuff - and besides Google, is the only other big player in the Search Engine business. SE is a money making machine through ads - that’s the whole point behind the idea.
Now, for our laughs, and for Yahoo execs trying to keep their cool, here are some tips. The guy actually makes sense too
